How to Book a 9-Hole Tee Time When the Sheet Only Shows 18

The grey 18-hole sheet is not always a closed 9. Some shops let you pick 9 or 18 on the same book. Some take a morning 9 only by phone. Some refuse every 9 until noon or 3pm. Read that shop's 9-hole rule, then book the window that sells 9.

The grey 18-hole sheet is not always a closed 9. Some shops let you pick 9 or 18 on the same book. Some take a morning 9 only by phone. Some refuse every 9 until noon or 3pm. Read that shop's 9-hole rule, then book the window that sells 9. Do not treat one muny's clock as the national 9-hole book.

The 9-hole rule is not one rule

Do not treat every 18-hole login as a full-round lock. Named public shops publish opposite 9-hole rules, and the online sheet is not always the 9-hole book.

Casper Municipal sells 9 and 18 on the same Club Caddie book, seven days out. You pick the hole count when you reserve. You do not pay online. You pay at the shop. The same page tells you to select the correct number of holes you will play, and it will pair a group under four.

City of Rochester, Minnesota also accepts 9-hole and 18-hole reservations, but not on a public web book. Reservations open five days out, in person or by phone, starting at 8am before Memorial Day and after Labor Day, and at 7am from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Those reservations are for the number 1 tee only. The shop will take a 2-some, 3-some, or 4-some. It will not take a single.

City of Phoenix Golf keeps the 18-hole web book and moves the 9. All 9-hole bookings at 18-hole courses must be made by phone. The page names that rule for Aguila 18, Cave Creek, and Encanto 18. It also says GCU and Papago may post different booking rules. A grey Phoenix 18-hole tile is not a no. It is a call.

Palm Beach Gardens does the same cut on the public tiles. Single, 9-hole, and walking reservations go through the golf shop at 561-630-1160, extension 6. The online path still asks for a card and takes no payment then. The shop charges that card only if you miss the 24-hour cancel window.

Golf Westminster sells the morning as 18. Only 18-hole reservations are accepted before noon. After noon, the book takes 9 or 18. Reservations open 14 days out at 6am Mountain time for groups up to 12, and every reservation needs a registered account with a card on file. Red Hawk Ridge in Castle Rock prints a shorter version of that afternoon clock: 9-hole times are available only after noon, and every time must be booked online.

Park City Golf Club uses a later afternoon cut. Any reservation before 3pm is an 18-hole reservation. 9-hole times can be reserved at any time after 3pm. Morning 9s before 8am are also for sale, and those must be made by calling the shop. Phone reservations open seven days out. The online book opens nine days out at 7pm and still wants a card. In spring and fall, that page puts the last 18-hole time around 2:30pm because there is less sunlight. A late-October 9 there is often the time that still fits.

Write down the 9-hole rule first

Open the tee-time policy page, not only the live 18-hole sheet. Write four things:

  1. Whether that shop sells 9 on the same book, only after a clock, or only by phone
  2. Whether a morning 9 exists at all, and whether it is a call
  3. Whether a single can hold the 9, or the shop wants two or more
  4. Whether the sister 9, the executive 9, or the back nine is a different book

If you are still fighting the original rolling release, use the 7-day and 14-day public book notes. If the shop will sell you a 1-some on that 9, the 1-some guide covers pairing. This guide is the hole-count exception on top of those windows. A late 9 after 3pm is often the same slot the twilight notes already treat as the leftover book.

Book the window that sells 9

If the policy page lets you pick 9 on the same login, pick 9. Casper is that shop. Rochester is that shop on the phone. Do not book 18 and walk off at the turn unless that shop says the turn is how a 9 is sold.

If the page sends 9s to the phone, call. Phoenix will not put Aguila 18, Cave Creek, or Encanto 18 nines on the web book. Palm Beach Gardens will not put a 9, a single, or a walker on the tiles. Park City will not put a morning 9 on the nine-day online book. Ask for the first 9, a split at the turn, or the executive 9 on the same property.

If the page keeps mornings at 18, wait for that clock or take the early phone 9. Westminster and Red Hawk Ridge start the 9-hole book at noon. Park City starts the afternoon 9 at 3pm and still sells a before-8am 9 by phone. Write the cutoff before you refresh.

Write down one backup whose 9-hole rule you have already read. A city 9 or an executive 9 is often the open book while the championship 18 stays grey. If Saturday is already leftovers after that window, use the last-minute Saturday guide for cancellations and shop holds.

What not to do

  • Do not treat a grey 18-hole sheet as a closed 9. Phoenix and Palm Beach Gardens moved those 9s to the phone.
  • Do not treat noon as the national 9-hole clock. Westminster and Red Hawk Ridge use noon. Park City uses 3pm, plus a phone 9 before 8am.
  • Do not book 18 at Casper and play 9. That page tells you to select the hole count you will play.
  • Do not send a booking bot at a shop that bans automation. You lose the account and the walk-up on the 9-hole book and the 18-hole book.

FAQ

Can I book 9 holes on an 18-hole course?

Sometimes. Casper and Rochester sell 9 and 18 on the same reservation rule. Phoenix and Palm Beach Gardens sell the 9 by phone. Westminster, Red Hawk Ridge, and Park City keep the morning as 18 and open 9s later. Read that shop's page.

When is a morning 9 actually for sale?

When that shop says so. Park City sells a 9 before 8am if you call. Casper and Rochester will take a 9 on the regular book. Westminster will not take a 9 before noon. Do not guess from another city's clock.

When do I call?

After you read the 9-hole sentence on that shop's tee-time page. Ask whether a morning 9 exists, whether it is phone-only, and whether the sister 9 is a different book. The call confirms that shop. It does not replace the posted hole-count rule.
